In Kansas City, Missouri, the KC Pet Project, a renowned animal rescue, shared a heartwarming photo of Binx, a 6-week-old kitten, who they lovingly dubbed “the most responsible kitten in the world.” The rescue, which cares for over 10,000 animals annually, is currently experiencing a surge of kittens in need as Spring Kitten Season arrives nationwide.
When Binx was first brought to the rescue, he was found diligently watching over three tiny 2-week-old black kittens, doing his best to keep them safe, according to KC Pet Project spokesperson Tori Fugate. It remains unclear whether Binx is related to the newborns or what happened to their mother.
Sadly, the mother cat had abandoned the litter, but Binx stayed behind, determined to care for them. These kittens, who might not have survived, were saved when a kind-hearted individual found them and brought them all together to the shelter.
The Cutest Caretaker
“Meet the most responsible kitten in the world,” KC Pet Project shared on Facebook. “He’s a 6-week-old kitten that was found with three newborn kittens. The person who found them told us that he’s been taking care of the babies, and we think this is about the cutest thing ever. They’ll all be heading into foster homes until they’re old enough to be adopted, but we had to share the cuteness with you.”
How Binx, the Most Responsible Kitten, Was Discovered
After the post went viral, the story was picked up by major outlets like the Huffington Post and Yahoo! News. Tori Fugate provided further details, sharing:
“The person who spotted the four felines waited to see if the mother cat would return. When no mother appeared, they brought them all to the shelter together,” Fugate explained via email.
Meet Ollie, Frankie, and Ziggy
Following the rescue, the three younger kittens, all males, were named Ollie, Frankie, and Ziggy. Wanting to keep them together, Binx remained with them in foster care. Fugate shared that the kittens are now thriving and, with all their needs met, Binx no longer has to babysit them full-time.

At such a young age, the newborn kittens require round-the-clock bottle-feeding.
“They all went to a foster home together,” Fugate said, “because how could we split them up?”
A Plea for Adoptive Homes
Although Binx and the kittens have captured hearts, the shelter emphasizes that there are many older cats in need of loving homes, too. For instance, “Bootsy,” a staff favorite, is one of the many cats waiting for her forever family.
“Bootsy is a staff favorite at our campus. She’s sweet and talkative, coming up to the front of the kennel to say hi when you walk into the cat room,” KC Pet Project shared on Instagram.
Binx’s story serves as a reminder that every cat, young or old, has a story and a need for a caring home.
