The sight of a new mother dog lying weakly next to her newborns, only hours old, was utterly heart-wrenching.

Her image cried out for help.

This mother dog was utterly depleted.

How could she remain strong when abandoned so cruelly, likely due to her pregnancy? Without adequate food, water, or shelter, she wandered the streets, seeking a safe place to give birth.

But fate had other plans. She delivered right on the street, on a makeshift bed of cardboard.

Six puppies were born; tragically, two were stillborn.

Despite her extreme fatigue, she rose to defend her litter when people approached. Unaware of their intentions, she reacted fiercely, not knowing they were there to help.

The rescue team endured three attacks before they could safely transport her and her puppies to a shelter.

There, it was a relief to find she could nurse her puppies. Now, it was crucial to nourish the mother too.

She was famished, having three meals that day—consuming about 5 pounds of liver in her first two feedings alone.

After a critical first 48 hours, the puppies began to thrive, opening their eyes and exploring the world of puppyhood.

Though still wary of people, the mother was gradually recovering. With time, she might learn to trust again.

Thanks to the dedication of dog lovers and rescuers, this mother dog and her puppies were saved from a dire fate.

She now enjoys the life she deserves.

While we can’t rescue every stray dog, support even in small ways can make a big difference. Want to see change? Be the change!
