In the chilling cold of a northern Alberta community, a stray puppy was left immobilized after being struck by a car, enduring 12 grueling hours in the snow, paralyzed and alone.

Suffering from a fractured pelvis and trapped in sub-zero temperatures, the young dogโ€™s situation seemed dire. However, hope arrived when a group of teenagers noticed her plight and alerted the AB Task Force, who quickly involved the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS).

โ€œShe endured over 12 hours in the freezing cold, lying isolated before rescue teams could transport her to SAVEvet,โ€ shared AARCS. Remarkably, the snow around her had melted from her body heat, indicating her struggle to survive.

Upon rescue, the puppy, affectionately named Nutmeg, greeted her saviors with visible joy.

Currently, Nutmeg is on the mend, confined to crate rest for six weeks as she heals from her injuries, receiving ample treats, kisses, and affection, as stated by AARCS:

“She’s getting all the love and treats she deserves!”

Hereโ€™s Nutmeg enjoying some well-earned affection and treats. Please note: the video may take a moment to load.

Once fully recovered, Nutmeg will be available for adoption, ready to find a loving home.

We are thankful Nutmeg was discovered in time. Spread the word about her heartwarming rescue story with your friends and family!
