The Fattest Girl in the World Managed to Lose Weight: This is How She Looks Now

Jessica Leonard from Chicago once held the unfortunate title of being the heaviest girl in the world. At just 7 years old, her weight had reached an astonishing 222 kg (489 lbs).

Due to her extreme obesity, Jessica could not move independently and required constant assistance from her mother, who had unknowingly contributed to her daughter’s condition. In a classic case of overindulgence, Jessica’s mother, driven by love and unable to say no to her daughter’s desires, fed her unhealthy food without considering the consequences.

Jessica’s daily caloric intake was around 10,000 calories, far exceeding the recommended 1,800 calories for children her age. Her diet consisted mainly of fast food—pizza, hamburgers, soda, French fries, and other high-calorie options.

Jessica’s mother, who also struggled with obesity (though not to the same extent), first noticed health issues in her daughter when she surpassed 100 kg (220 lbs) at just 4 years old. However, even the alarming state of her daughter’s health did not prompt stricter dietary measures.

Thankfully, with the intervention of concerned Americans and dedicated medical professionals, Jessica managed to lose 140 kg (309 lbs). It took a year and a half of rigorous dieting, medical treatments, and immense effort.

Today, the girl who once held the title of the world’s heaviest child now weighs 80 kg (176 lbs). While this is still above the average weight for her age, the immediate threat to her life has been significantly reduced.

However, Jessica’s journey is far from over. She must continue to adhere to strict diets and engage in regular exercise. Additionally, she will need to undergo several surgeries to restore mobility in her leg joints and remove excess skin.

Jessica’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of support, showing that with determination and the right help, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome.
