In 1983, twenty-four-year-old Patricia Clarke was expecting her second child, and she sensed the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Known in her family for having large babies, Patricia anticipated her newborn might be slightly above average in size, but the reality far exceeded her expectations.
Patricia gave birth to Kevin Robert Clark, a baby boy whose birth weight was extraordinary—over sixteen pounds! This astonishing size likely made him the largest newborn in New Jersey at the time and certainly the largest ever at Community Memorial Hospital. Despite his size, Kevin was a healthy baby, though he quickly outgrew standard cribs and newborn attire.
Kevin’s exceptional size caught public attention early on. His unique story led to appearances on television shows such as “Saturday Night Live” and “Good Morning America,” sparking nationwide conversations about his remarkable size.
However, Kevin’s growth didn’t stop with infancy. By the age of 12, he had reached a height of 5 feet 7 inches, and by junior high, he stood at 6 feet 5 inches. Kevin developed a sense of humor about his stature, often joking, “I’m not 6-foot-9; I’m 5-foot-21.” He humorously responds to inquiries about basketball with, “Do you play miniature golf?”
Now 39 years old, Kevin stands 6 feet 9 inches tall. His life journey has included a stint in the military, and he currently lives with his 6-foot-6 wife and their Great Dane. Kevin embraces his unique size, having grown accustomed to standing out in most crowds.
Kevin’s life has been shaped by the public’s fascination and his own experiences as an exceptionally tall individual. Today, he exemplifies confidence and acceptance of one’s uniqueness. Kevin’s story is truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing his continued successes in all his future endeavors.
