Kizzy, the 25-Year-Old Cat, Cries in Heartwarming Reunion with Her Dad After Two Years Missing

Blog

A heartwarming tale unfolded when a 25-year-old cat named Kizzy, who had been missing for two years and surviving on the streets, was finally reunited with her loving family. Against all odds, Kizzy’s reunion with her dad was an emotional moment, as she cried in his arms upon recognizing him (watch the touching video below).

At Kizzy’s advanced age, and being deaf, her survival on the streets was nothing short of miraculous. Having spent her entire life as a house cat, the odds were stacked against her. She was severely underweight, weighing just 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms) when she was found in a gutter.

Kind Woman Saves Kizzy by the Road

Kizzy’s fate changed when a kind-hearted woman named Chloe spotted her beside a road in Kent, UK. Initially, Chloe thought the senior cat was lifeless as she lay motionless in a ditch. However, upon driving by again and seeing Kizzy had not moved, Chloe realized the cat was alive but in desperate need of help.

Emaciated, flea-ridden, and suffering from tapeworms, Kizzy’s fur was matted, and her claws had grown so long she couldn’t walk properly. Yet Chloe didn’t give up—she rescued Kizzy, bringing her home and to a local animal hospital. Though Kizzy wasn’t microchipped at the time, Chloe’s actions set the stage for her eventual reunion with her family.

A Search for Kizzy’s Family

The group Animals Lost and Found in Kent worked tirelessly to reunite Kizzy, initially named “Moose” by rescuers, with her family. Founder Natasha McPhee shared Kizzy’s story on Facebook, and though several people came forward claiming her, none were the right match.

Natasha posted: “Do you recognize this cat? This baby was found in a lay-by by two kind-hearted individuals. He/she is very old, smothered in fleas, and severely underweight. Could this be a missing pet? He/she isn’t microchipped, but we have the cat safe with us at ALFIK HQ.”

An Ameowzing Reunion

Eventually, Alison Long and her husband Dean spotted Kizzy on Facebook and couldn’t believe their eyes—it was their long-lost cat! The couple, who lived eight miles away in Chatham, thought Kizzy had found another home when she disappeared in 2021. They were devastated to see the struggle she had endured on the streets, but overjoyed to have her back.

Kizzy’s homecoming was especially meaningful for Dean’s 90-year-old father, who had a deep bond with the cat.

Alison shared, “Just where have you been? I wish we knew.” She described Kizzy as having “the heart of a tiger,” strong and resilient despite her ordeal.

Kizzy Cries for Joy

When Kizzy reunited with her family, an emotional moment occurred—Kizzy recognized Dean’s scent and started to cry with joy. Though Kizzy had become wary of being touched during her time away, she immediately connected with Dean, showing just how deep their bond remained.

Alison expressed immense gratitude to Natasha, calling her “Kizzy’s angel,” and to Chloe, the “very caring angel” who saved Kizzy’s life.

“So happy 😁. We picked up Kizzy this morning from the lovely Natasha McPhee at Animals Lost and Found. It took Kizzy a while to pick up on Dean’s scent since she is now totally deaf. But when she did, she cried 😁❤️. A massive thank you to Natasha for everything you have done for Kizzy. We can never thank you enough 💐 Kizzy, you are home 💖💖💖,” Alison shared.

A Happy Ending for Kizzy

Now safely back with her family, Kizzy will spend her remaining years pampered, loved, and microchipped to ensure she never gets lost again. Her touching reunion serves as a reminder of the power of community and the unbreakable bond between pets and their families.

It’s one of the most heartwarming reunions we’ve ever seen, and we are overjoyed that Kizzy will live out her days surrounded by the love and comfort of home.
