Kiki, a 17-year-old cat who was abandoned at a shelter, found a stroke of luck when she was adopted by a family who loves and cherishes her. Now, she can’t stop expressing how thankful she is to have a loving home in her golden years.
“At 17 years old, Kiki was left at a shelter. We rescued her, and now she tells us every day how happy she is,” her new family shared.
Kiki’s previous owner passed away, and the family made the difficult decision to leave her at a shelter. While the decision may have been made with the best intentions, it’s still heartbreaking to see an elderly cat abandoned, especially after such a loss.
Fortunately, the KARL (Kritter Adoption and Rescue League) organization stepped in to ensure Kiki wouldn’t spend her final years alone in a shelter. Her rescuers couldn’t bear to leave her behind, knowing how much love she still had to give and how much she needed in return.
“We couldn’t just let her stay there,”
a representative from KARL said. “We run a sanctuary for special needs and geriatric cats. You’d be surprised how many people choose to abandon older cats at shelters or, worse, on the streets.”
Kiki was incredibly fortunate—she wasn’t going to remain in the shelter for long. Instead, she was given a second chance at happiness with a family that treasures her every day.
Kiki now shows her gratitude in the sweetest ways, letting her new family know how happy she is to be loved and cared for. Her story is a beautiful reminder that no cat is ever too old to be loved.
Kiki’s journey is a testament to the power of kindness and compassion. She’s found her fur-ever home, where she is truly adored, and it’s clear that the love is mutual.
