The Superhero Feline Version of The Powerpuff Girls You Never Knew You Needed

Blog

In May 2024, three adorable kittens were rescued in Orlando, Florida, and quickly earned the fitting names of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup—after The Powerpuff Girls. Much like their animated namesakes, these kittens embody courage, resilience, and sisterly love. Their journey, from abandonment to healing, mirrors the heroics of the Powerpuff trio, but with a feline twist.

The Powerpuff Girls’ Arrival

On May 11, 2024, the three kittens were found abandoned outside a vet’s office in a box. They were in rough shape, suffering from urine scalding and eye infections. Buttercup, the most affected, had a paw injury and severe irritation. Alyssa DeHart, their foster mom with Liberation Cat House, took them in, providing the love and care these tiny warriors needed to survive.

Despite their difficult start, the kittens soon began to thrive. With antibiotics and round-the-clock care, the trio started to recover, revealing their tortoiseshell beauty and unique personalities. However, their journey wasn’t over—there were still medical challenges ahead.

Eye Issues Unveiled

As the kittens grew stronger, Alyssa noticed that their eye problems were more complex than initially thought. Blossom and Bubbles, the two sisters, were diagnosed with eyelid agenesis—a condition where they were missing part of their eyelids, leaving their eyes vulnerable to irritation. Fortunately, their conditions were mild enough not to require immediate surgery.

Blossom, on the other hand, had a more serious issue. She was born with microphthalmia, which meant her eyes were underdeveloped and sunken. The ophthalmologist confirmed that Blossom was likely blind, but she adapted remarkably well, navigating her surroundings with the fearlessness of a true superhero.

A Community Rallies Behind the Kittens

Thanks to Alyssa’s social media presence, the Powerpuff Girls’ story spread, and generous followers donated enough to help fund their medical care. Blossom’s blindness didn’t slow her down, and Buttercup continued to charm everyone with her cross-eyed cuteness. The kittens started playing and gaining weight, and their true personalities began to shine.

  • Buttercup: The outgoing leader of the group, always ready to explore new things.
  • Blossom: Fearless and affectionate despite her blindness, with an extra special touch—she’s polydactyl, boasting 22 toes!
  • Bubbles: Shy yet sweet, the gentle one of the group, always up for playtime with her sisters.

Medical Procedures and Hope

By June, the girls were ready for adoption, with Alyssa putting out the call for potential homes. Buttercup was the first to find her forever family, who were excited to welcome her alongside a twin sister kitty named Lulu. Meanwhile, Blossom and Bubbles continued to rely on each other, their bond growing even stronger as they faced new medical challenges together.

In August, Bubbles underwent a cryotherapy procedure to remove the irritating hairs poking her eyes. Not long after, Blossom had her own major surgery—a double enucleation to remove her underdeveloped eyes. Despite these hardships, both kittens remained playful and loving, ready to conquer the world with the support of each other and their foster mom.

The Powerpuff Girls’ Search for a Forever Home

As the Powerpuff Girls’ health improved, Alyssa made the decision that Blossom and Bubbles would need to be adopted together. Their bond was undeniable, and they thrived in each other’s company. Now, these two superhero kittens are ready to find their forever home, a place where they can continue their adventures side by side.

With Blossom’s 0 eyes, 22 toes, and a heart full of love, and Bubbles’ sweet and playful spirit, they make the perfect dynamic duo for any loving home.
