Wild Kitten Abandoned at Adoption Event Finds Himself Safe and Loved

Despite being tiny, kittens like Seymour are often bundles of endless energy, ready to turn any space into their personal playground. Their sharp teeth and claws may be small, but they can certainly make an impact! When they aren’t snoozing with full bellies, these lively furballs love to wrestle—usually with their siblings. But when they’re alone, it’s humans who become their playmates, which is why adopting kittens in pairs or trios is always a great idea.

Suddenly Seymour: The Kitten’s Unusual Arrival

In September, Brittany, a rescuer from Northern Virginia, was attending a weekly adoption event, helping foster kittens find their forever homes. Unexpectedly, she had to rescue yet another kitten—this one left alone in the middle of a bustling pet store. The tiny kitten, later named Seymour (inspired by “Suddenly, Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors), appeared out of nowhere.

Strangely, store surveillance footage revealed that a woman had brought Seymour in, carrying him in a bag. Without a word, she walked past the rescuers and left the kitten behind. Brittany wished the woman had spoken to them or at least left the bag at their table, but despite being overwhelmed, Brittany made space for Seymour, determined to give him the care he needed.

A Kitten Full of Energy

Seymour was soon found to be quite the wild little guy! A couple of days after being rescued, he was ready to play—but since he was in quarantine, Brittany’s hands were his only playmates. The feisty kitten puffed up, spat, and playfully tried to use his newfound energy on her, not yet realizing when he crossed the line into “ouch” territory.

“This kitten is a prime example of why kittens need other kittens to play with,” Brittany said. “He’s very sweet, but he wants to play with me like I’m a kitten.”

Despite his wild antics, Seymour did have his sweet moments, cuddling up to Brittany when he wasn’t in full play mode.

“He makes me laugh every day and is the sweetest, feisty little guy,” Brittany shared. “When he’s not acting crazy, he’s cuddling in my lap.”

Growing Into a Loving Companion

As Seymour adjusted to his new life, he found comfort in his favorite toy—a little fish that he loved to bunny kick. It gave Brittany’s hands a break and let him work out some of that playful energy.

“Seymour and his fish toy 😻” Brittany captioned one of his adorable videos.

In rare moments of calm, Brittany caught glimpses of Seymour resting quietly, though these breaks didn’t last long. His boundless energy and playful spirit kept her laughing throughout his stay.

“Today is a cool rainy day in bed. These pictures show Seymour looking calm, but he spent most of the time attacking everything and playing. He is a fluffy ball of pure energy 😻😹,” Brittany wrote.

As much of a handful as he was, Brittany knew Seymour was growing into a wonderful companion. After quarantine, he’d finally be able to have new kitten friends to play with, but until then, Brittany was his favorite playmate.

A Forever Home for Seymour

In October, Seymour’s playful journey brought him to his forever home, where his new mom, Heather, was ready to spoil him with love and affection.

“We are so lucky to welcome little Seymour to our family. He is perfect!❤️” Heather shared.

Seymour’s wild start turned into a story of love, laughter, and finding the perfect home. You can follow more of Brittany’s foster adventures on Instagram, where she continues to rescue and care for kittens like Seymour.
