About 15 years ago, Richard Sandrak, a boy who had moved from Ukraine to the United States, earned the title of the “world’s strongest boy.” His remarkable strength at such a young age made headlines around the world.

Richard began his intense workout routine as a young child, and by the age of 8, he could bench press over 30 pounds. By the time he was 11, he was lifting 53 pounds! His impressive feats earned him the nickname “Little Hercules” and brought him widespread fame, leading to appearances in competitions, TV shows, commercials, magazines, and even films.

As a result, Richard’s family relocated to California to help him fully pursue his potential. His rigorous training, diet, and lifestyle were strictly managed by his father, a former martial arts world champion. However, this strict regimen raised concerns, with many criticizing his father for pushing Richard too hard.

At the age of 11, Richard’s life took a dramatic turn when he called the police after his father assaulted his mother. His father was subsequently jailed for domestic violence, and Richard distanced himself from him. After this traumatic event, Richard’s enthusiasm for his intense workout routine began to wane, and he gradually stepped away from the spotlight.

Now 24, Richard reflects on his past achievements with pride. “I am very proud of my achievements as a child,” he says, noting that he’s not ashamed of his earlier life, but he’s also happy to have left that lifestyle behind. He felt that those around him were trying to portray him as a “freak of nature,” a label he wanted no part of.

Though he still exercises, Richard is no longer as fanatical about it. He enjoys running every morning and skateboarding in his free time. Professionally, he works as a stuntman in the Los Angeles-based show “Waterworld,” where he’s set on fire up to five times a day and dives from great heights into the water.

Surprisingly, when asked what his future aspirations are, Richard didn’t mention bodybuilding or fitness. Instead, he expressed interest in becoming a scientist, saying, “I want to study quantum physics or work as an engineer at NASA. Why not?”

From being labeled the “world’s strongest boy” to aspiring for a future in science, Richard Sandrak’s journey has been one of remarkable transformation.
