Being an animal rescuer is not easy. More often than not, you will be left heartbroken at witnessing the sheer cruelty inflicted on the animals you rescue. Sometimes, they will have minor injuries paired with hunger and thirst, while other times, they will be in severe pain and just begging someone to help them. This story is about a dog with a chubby face, later found to be caused by a too-tight chain around his neck.
A Heartbreaking Sight
While a volunteer working for R.A.D. Rescue was driving on a road in California, she noticed a dog nearby. She stopped her car, approached the dog, and noticed that he had an unusually chubby face. Upon closer inspection, she discovered the heartbreaking reason: his head was incredibly swollen from having a tight chain around his neck.
Seeing this level of animal cruelty on a poor dog is truly heartbreaking, as he had done nothing to deserve it. Realizing he needed immediate help, the volunteer lured him into her car with some chicken.
A Journey To Recovery
The dog, now named Chunk the Hunk, was safe with the volunteer, and they headed to the nearest veterinary clinic in California for a full checkup. Despite probably being in a lot of pain, Chunk seemed to enjoy the ride.
After receiving medical attention, Chunk began his journey to recovery. His rescuer thought it was necessary to help him learn how to enjoy life, as he had spent most of his life chained up. Chunk started showing his outgoing personality as he learned new things, gradually revealing his true character.
Finding a Forever Home
The search for Chunk’s new family was not easy, but the workers at R.A.D. Rescue were determined. Chunk remained patient and resilient, not letting anything deter his spirit. In just a few months, he found his forever home.
Thanks to his amazing rescuer, Chunk is now living his best life. This heartwarming story is a testament to the dedication and compassion of animal rescuers who make a significant difference in the lives of abused and neglected animals.
