“Take care of your body and listen to it,” the country singer emphasized.
Carly Pearce recently disclosed that she has been experiencing health issues related to her heart.
On May 30, the 34-year-old country singer posted a candid video on Instagram, sharing an update on her health and its implications for her upcoming performances.
“I have always been transparent and honest about every part of my life so I feel like this deserves the same honesty,” Pearce began. “You guys know that I’ve been dealing with some health issues and through that, I have developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart issue.”
Pericarditis Diagnosis and Symptoms
Pericarditis, according to the Mayo Clinic, is characterized by the swelling and irritation of the pericardium, the thin, sac-like tissue surrounding the heart. This condition often results in sharp chest pain that can extend to the shoulders and neck. Other symptoms include fatigue, coughing, swelling of the legs or feet, low-grade fever, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations.
“I’ve been working with doctors and talking to my cardiologist,” Pearce stated. “I still want to be out on the road, it’s really important to me but we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I’m healing to alter my shows a little bit.”
Impact on Tour and Performances
Currently on tour with Tim McGraw for his “Standing Room Only Tour,” Pearce addressed how her condition would affect her performances.
“So if my shows look a little different, just know it’s because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now,” she continued. “That doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be completely fine, it just means that right now I’ve got to really take this seriously.”
Pearce, whose new album “Hummingbird” is slated for release on June 7, requested her fans’ understanding and patience as she navigates her health challenges.
Encouraging Health Awareness
The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer also used this opportunity to stress the importance of health vigilance to her followers.
“I’m a young healthy person that really watches what I eat and exercises and this happened to me,” she noted. “So I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it and just know that if it’s trying to tell you something it’s gonna tell you.”
Career Reflections and Personal Growth
In a recent interview with Apple Music’s “Today’s Country Radio,” Pearce discussed her new album “Hummingbird,” reflecting on her artistic journey and personal growth. She touched upon her public divorce from fellow country star Michael Ray and the subsequent emotional and creative impact.
“I wrote that album under the impression that it was never going to be released. And what I mean by that is I knew that I had to write about what was going on. I had lost my producer. Obviously, I was going through a very public divorce. I needed to get that off my chest, but I did not think that that was commercially what would fit into the fences of our genre. So when it came out for the first time, I felt like people were like, ‘Oh, she’s really writing about her life.’”
Despite her previous work being closely associated with her divorce, Pearce emphasized that her new album is a broader reflection of her experiences and growth beyond that period.
Breaking Societal Expectations
Pearce expressed her desire to challenge societal expectations placed on women, particularly regarding relationships.
“I’m trying to break the stigma of what society tells you a girl in her thirties should have. Just because I’m not married again or I haven’t quite figured out love does not make me any less of a woman or any less of a person.”
Her new song “Truck On Fire,” co-written with Charles Kelley of Lady A and Justin Ebach, embodies this theme of empowerment, offering an anthem of strength and resilience for her listeners.
In conclusion, Carly Pearce’s candidness about her health challenges and her continued artistic evolution serve as a testament to her resilience and dedication, both personally and professionally.
