Stray Kitten Trapped In A Barn Finally Overcomes Her Fear Of People

Lots of cats in shelters are scared and unsure because of their past. Their beginnings can make them cautious around people and slow to build trust. Jeanne, a tabby cat discovered in a barn, was no exception.

One day, Joanie, the owner of the barn, found a group of kittens who were in desperate need of help.

Since nobody else was willing to assist, Joanie decided to take matters into her own hands. She used a humane trap to catch three kittens and their two adult companions.

The kittens were then taken to Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a cat rescue organization, to find loving homes. As for the adult cats, they were spayed or neutered and returned to their barn life.

However, Joanie knew that there was still one more kitten out there. She didn’t give up, and her determination paid off.

A shy tabby named Jeanne, who was six months old, cautiously entered the trap. Her fear showed how her unknown past had shaped her.

Jeanne had never experienced the warmth of human kindness before. Left all alone, she faced the world with a deep-rooted fear.

She spent most of her time curled up in a cardboard box, creating her own safe haven amidst the unfamiliar surroundings. As Celine from Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared for Love Meow:

“She never had any human contact and felt lost and scared.”

Even Joanie’s gentlest attempts at petting her with a spatula were met with caution. After being rescued, Jeanne embarked on a new journey – a visit to Chatons Orphelins Montréal.

There she would receive medical attention, be spayed, and hopefully, find a caring foster home.

It was obvious that Jeanne had a kind heart that wanted love. Eventually, she started to overcome her fears.

She began to step out of her comfort zone, discovering new things around her with excitement.

Most importantly, she found the bravery to approach her foster parents, looking for affection and a bond. Celine continued:

“Jeanne went to her foster home for socialization. It took a while for her to come out of her shell, but every day, she would make baby steps and trust a little more.”

As Jeanne took each step and had every gentle interaction, her fear started to fade away. Instead, she began to feel more secure and trusting.

Although Jeanne’s journey is not finished yet, she has made great progress. She is no longer the frightened kitten hiding in a box.

Today, she is on the verge of a new beginning, eager to find a forever home where she can get all the love and cuddles she needs.
