Instead of waiting to be adopted like other shelter dogs, Scout chose a family on his own—across the street at the Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.

Realizing the bond that Scout had formed with their residents, and his persistent efforts to stay with them, the nursing home staff decided to welcome him as a permanent resident. Jennifer Martinek from MBMCF remarked, “When Scout continued to show up here, we thought maybe it was meant to be.” Stephanie Elsey, a clinical care coordinator, added, “We’ve welcomed him to be a part of our family. This is where he belongs. He chose us.”
