Imagine that blissful time of year when you set aside all your worries, anticipating only the pleasures of your next tropical drink. Indeed, I’m referring to the joy of vacation!
That was exactly the mindset of Karl and his wife Liza as they meticulously planned their two-week getaway, arranging to reconnect with long-lost friends in the process.

On the inaugural day of their holiday, Karl and Liza ventured out from their lodging in pursuit of some much-needed refreshments. Crossing the parking lot, their gaze was drawn to something diminutive and unexpected.
Nearing the small figure, Karl discovered it was a kitten, in a heartbreakingly dire condition: infested with fleas, struggling to breathe, and barely able to move.
Upon noticing a severe injury to its right eye, the couple immediately transported the kitten to the closest emergency veterinary clinic.
The attending veterinarian provided urgent care and cleaned the kitten, but regrettably, the damage to his right eye was irreversible, resulting in permanent blindness.
Fortunately, the kitten’s left eye was unharmed, and the veterinarian reassured Karl that with attentive care, the kitten could lead a healthy life.
Moved by the plight of the kitten, Karl and Liza made a heartwarming decision to forego their vacation activities and social engagements to nurture the kitten, whom they affectionately named Cubi. Thus began their unexpected journey together.
Faced with a no-pets policy at their Airbnb, they discreetly brought Cubi into their temporary home. Karl admitted on Instagram that they were novices in caring for a sick kitten, but their dedication quickly turned into proficiency as they nurtured Cubi back to health.
Within just two days under their care, Cubi’s vitality returned, and he began to explore the apartment. Evening strolls in the park became part of their routine, and soon, his respiratory issues were resolved and his eye condition stabilized. Karl was determined to bring him back home, but vaccinations were needed first.
Fortuitously, a willing foster caretaker agreed to look after Cubi until he was ready to make the journey to his permanent home. Though parting was difficult for Karl and Liza, they were comforted by the knowledge that it was only temporary.
During the interim, inspired by Cubi’s resilience, the couple became advocates for stray cats in their area, providing daily nourishment and care.
A few weeks later, Cubi was fully prepared for travel. Eagerly, Karl and Liza welcomed him into their home to join his new siblings, Zoe and Cloe, enveloping him in affection.
Today, Cubi epitomizes a content and thriving house cat. Whether he’s playfully annoying his sister Zoe or enjoying his toys, he relishes his days. Each evening, he transforms into a purring delight as he cuddles next to Karl.
